Alexei Medvedev, the festival’s director of programming, will handpick eight to nine features for the international competition. Made in 2016-17, these program selections will come both from Russia and the Pacific region, detecting the points of convergence and divergence between Europe and Asia.
The official jury will consist of five members.
The out-of competition program will comprise 7 sidebars:
Neighbors — new films from China, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea.
Festival Hits — high-profile premieres from big international festivals.
How to Watch Films — screenings will be accompanied by lectures.
Assemblage Point — documentary program addressing the issues of building a civic society on the ground.
Yakutia: Experience of Growth — regional low-budget movies from Yakutia.
Save the Planet — the most spectacular eco-minded films screened in the square.
Miyazaki and Others — the traditional program of foreign animation for kids and adults alike.
