Salamanca looks like it froze in time two hundred years ago, at the moment when the first mennonites came to Mexico in search of their own place on Earth. Everything here is predestined, and the descendants's life copies the life of their ancestors. Everything personal is just a part of the clan's history, and a person's story tells us the story of any other one. While the main character of the film is recollecting the memories of his childhood and is trying to find the answer to the most important question of his life, time in Salamanca is flowing leisurely, with days, months and years passing by.
