Little Jiro dreams of flying and beautiful planes that could overtake the wind. But he cannot become a pilot, he is short-sighted. Nevertheless Jiro does not give up his dream and starts inventing an ideal plane. As time goes by he becomes one of the best aviation constructors in the world. On his way to success he will meet many interesting people, survive the great Kanto earthquake and cruel wars and find the love of his life, the beautiful Naoko.

Hayao Miyazaki
Film director, animator, manga artist, producer, and scriptwriter. Born in Tokyo in 1941. In 1963 graduated from the Gakushuin University. Through a career that has spanned over fifty years, Miyazaki has attained international acclaim as a maker of anime feature films and, along with Isao Takahata, co-founded Studio Ghibli, the award-winning Japanese animation studio. Miyazaki directed a number of worldwide hits such as «Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind» (1986), «Castle in the Sky» (1986), «My Neighbor Totoro» (1988), «Kiki’s Delivery Service» (1989), «Porco Rosso» (1992), «Princess Mononoke» (1997), «Spirited Away» (2001, Oscar for best animated feature film, Grand Prix at Berlinale and about 50 other awards), «Howl’s Moving Castle» (2004, Oscar nomination, prize of the Venice IFF), «Ponyo» (2008, 2 prizes of the Venice IFF), etc. The director decided to end his career in movies with «The Wind Rises».
