At age 15, Samira decides to leave school. She is fed up with being told what to think and wants to learn filmmaking from her father, the famous Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf. He accepts her decision and turns his house into an unconventional Film School, where he shares his experience and knowledge with his children. It’s just the beginning of the careers of three famous Iranian female filmmakers.
Senior producer in BBC World Service. He is the editor and presenter of a film showcase in BBC Persian TV. He studied cinema in Iran and UK and so far he has made more than 10 films, mainly documentaries in and out of Iran. Some of these films have brought him some awards from national and international film festivals. Among other works «The Night Season» (1991), «Fish Talking» (2006), «In Search of a Healer» (2007), «The Birds I Dreamed» (2010), «Throw a Stone into the Water» (2011).
