The film tells about the very beginning of the musical career of Viktor Tsoi (Teo Yoo) and the “Kino” band, about his relationship with Mike Naumenko (the debut in the movie Roman “Zvyer” Bilyk), his wife Natalia (Irina Starshenbaum) and many other in forefront of the rock movement in Leningrad of 1981. This is a story about Leningrad of the 80s, about love, search and great hopes – about the mood that will remain with us forever. The film is full of music the heroes live and breathe with: the “Kino”, Mike Naumenko, and other iconic tracks of the era.

Kirill Serebrennikov is a Russian film and theater director. Born in 1969 in Rostov-on-Don. In his youth he worked for Rostov television companies, he shot videos, commercials and TV-plays. His professional theatre career started in 1990. And in 1998 he began to engage in cinema. Since 2012 he has been the artistic director of the Gogol Center Theater in Moscow.
